Abstract

Problem solving is one of activities in geometry which is good for students' thinking development since it is related to space, thinking, and students' real life. The objective of this study is to descriptively recognize the thinking ability of students in the fourth grade of Elementary school in Bandar Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. … The result revealed that the average score of students at SD Percobaan Padang was 47.2 (low) with MAC 75; SD 14 Padang was 50.9 (low) with MAC 65; meanwhile, SD 16 Pisang Padang was 27.1 (very low) with MAC 60. Concerning the result of examination analysis, it was concluded that students' ability in understanding geometry at Elementary Schools in Bandar Padang was low or below average.
