Analysis of Violation of Cooperative Principle in Movie Stolen by My Mother: Kamiyah Mobley (2020)

This study is aimed to classify maxim violation performed by the characters and to seek the most violated maxim did by the character in movie Stolen by My Mother: Kamiyah Mobley (2020) by Richard Kletter and Micheke Samit. This analysis is conducted by using four conversational maxims by Grice (1975). The source of data was sentences from dialogues of the movie. This research was descriptive qualitative analysis. The result of the study was four maxims were violated by the character with quantity maxim is in the highest rank and manner in the lower rank. The character often violated quantity maxim in indicator qt 3 . The occurrences of the quantity maxim is in 18 times, quality 8 times, relevance 6 times, and manner 2 times.
