Abstract

Tilapia is a kind of fresh water fish that is very potential to develop because of its fast growing and good immune. Its growing is about 20-30% faster. It will be die in 60C or 42
0C. The optimal pH for culturing and growing of this fish is 78. In development of nila fish cultivation that done by farmers, they faced problem, such as decreasing of growth rate and survival rate. One of the problems is the existence of unwanted wild animals (predatory) that can cause some
disadvantages during the production process. It can be solved by using organic pesticide that comes from root tuba extract (Derris elliptica), such as: rotenone,
dehydrorotenone, dequelin and elliptone. Rotenone is an active material of tuba root that is effective to kill the fish. This research is aimed to know The Influence
of Tuba Root (Derris elliptica L.) Extract To Growth Rate and Survival Rate of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.).
The research use Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment were 0,0000% (Control / P1), 0,0004% (P2), 0,0008% (P3), 0,0012% (P4), 0,0016% (P5), 0,0020% (P6). The parameter observed is the first weight of the fish, the last weight of the fish, the duration of cultivation, long and wide of fish and the quantity of nila fish seed. The observation is done 5 times in 20 days. All data gotten in ANOVA based on this
analysis will be known whether there is an influence of treatment to bound
variabel. F count > F
tabel then continued with testing by a further test LSD (Least Significant Difference) with a significant difference of 0,05. Tuba root extract (Derris elliptica L.) significantly affected the growth and survival of the seedlings escaped tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.). The result of research by the use of tuba root extract can slow the growth rate of tilapia. Moreover, can reduce the percentage of tilapia survival rate for 20 days of
maintenance. Effective concentration of tuba root extract (Derris elliptica L.) that influence of growth rate and survival rate of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) is
0,0004 %.
