Abstract
Development task is a certain period in the life span of an individual.
Teenagers have developmental task, one of them is emotional
independence aspect. If the task could not be completed, it will cause the
unhappiness for individual as well as the difficulties in solving the next
developmental tasks. Teens that do not have emotional independence will
always be dependent on parents or other adults so that when the teenagers
growing up would have difficulty in completing development tasks. Group
guidance can be used to help adolescent developmental task achievement
in aspects of emotional independence. This study aims to reveal the effect
of group guidance to adolescent developmental task achievement on
emotional independence aspect.
Experimental research with pretest and posttest control group design
was used to test whether the effect of group guidance in adolescent
developmental task of achieving the independence of the emotional aspect.
Subjects in this study were 10 students eighth grade of SMP Frater
Padang. To determine the amount of sample used purposive random
sampling technique. The group guidance of the subject, held six meetings.
Collected data on emotional independence through pretest and posttest,
then analyzed by using Wilcoxson Signed Ranks Test by SPSS version 16.
The findings of this study are there are significant differences
between pretest and posttest conditions achievement adolescent
developmental tasks in the emotional aspects of students' independence.
Based on the findings above, it can be concluded that the achievement
of the group guidance can affect the adolescent developmental tasks on the
emotional aspects of self-reliance. This study shows that the importance of
the use of group guidance in schools that can be done by BK teacher or
counselor for adolescent developmental task achievement in emotional
independence aspects. Similar research needs to be done but motivated by
different contexts in order to compare the findings of this research
