Abstract
This paper discusses strategies for improving students’ speaking ability through verbal–linguistic intelligence activities. At the beginning of the learning process, the teacher presents information related to the topic to be studied. This information functions to activate students’ prior knowledge about the topic to be discussed and can also be used to identify students’ level of understanding of the topic. Verbal–linguistic ability is required to effectively comprehend information related to the topic being learned. Verbal–linguistic intelligence refers to the ability to think in words and use language to express ideas to others. Students employ this ability when they communicate verbally with others. In the learning process, this ability is crucial for identifying students’ understanding as well as for determining ways to enhance it. Based on this explanation, improving students’ verbal–linguistic ability facilitates better comprehension of the learning topic, which in turn enhances their speaking skills. The deeper students’ understanding of the topic, the more easily they are able to express their ideas related to what they have learned
