Abstract
The problem of the research was the limited Geography sources used by students during learning and teaching process. Learning sources used by students are textbooks and student worksheets however, they have not attracted students yet. Insufficient time and a lot of materials to be taught caused the teaching objective have not achieved effectively. One of ways to overcome the problems is by developing web based learning. This research aimed at developing valid and effective web based learning on Geography subject for topic lithosphere. The type of this research was research and development (R and D) with 4 D design model. 4-D model consists of define, design, develop and disseminate. Define phase was done by analyzing syllabus, concept, available learning media and analyzing ten grade students of IPS-SMA. Design phase, it has been designed the web based learning on Geography subject for ten grade students of IPS-SMA. Develop phase consisted of validity, practicality and effectivity steps. The product was validated by 1 language expert, 1 media expert, 1 web design expert, 1 software expert and 1 instructional expert. Practicality data was obtained through questionnaire and interview guide to teacher and students and it was analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Data analysis showed that the average score was 90.3% which meant this learning media have been validated by experts by considering several scoring aspects namely: material, presentation, language, and display aspect and the media was categorized into very valid. The result of practicality showed that the average score was 85% which meant the web based learning media was practical. The result of analysis revealed the number of students who have passed standard criteria minimum was 87%, whereas the students who have not passed was 13 %. The students’ average score was 85.4. It was classified effective to improve students learning output.
