Abstract

This research is based on the importance of teachers’ ability improvement in developing teaching instrument in order to improve the quality of education. The phenomenon shows that elementary school teachers in Bonjol sub district Pasaman regency don’t have satisfactory ability yet. This is probably caused by the lack of teachers’ training especially teachers’ group training and supervision by the supervisor. The researcher is therefore interested to conduct this research. It is aimed at finding the contribution of teachers’ group work training and supervision by supervisor towards teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. The hypotheses of this research are; first, teachers’ group work training contributes toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Second, supervision by supervisor contributes toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Third, teachers’ group work training and supervision by supervisor also contributes towards teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Population of this research is 144 teachers. Sample of this research are 37 teachers. Researcher uses stratified proportional random sampling technique in choosing samples. Data are collected by using correlation and regression technique. The result of hypothesis testing shows that the three hypotheses which are proposed can be accepted. They are teachers’ group work training and supervision by supervisor contributes toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Research findings show that teachers’ group work training contributes 31, 8 % toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Supervision by supervisor contributes 12, 2 % toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Teachers’ group work training and supervision by supervisor contributes 37, 5 % toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. Based on the result of research findings can be concluded that the two free variables have important roles and contribute significantly toward teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments. In other words, teachers’ ability in developing teaching instruments can be increased through teachers’ group work training.
