Abstract

This study originated from the problem of deaf class I (one) students who did not know the names of the objects around them. In the learning process the teacher often uses the lecture method and media images on the board when learning takes place. This study aims to prove that the Pop Up Book media can increase the vocabulary of objects for deaf students The research method used is class action research (classroom action research) in this position the author collaborates with the classroom teacher where the classroom teacher is the executor, while the researcher acts as an observer. The research subjects were class teachers and two class I deaf students. The research activities were carried out in two cycles, namely cycle I and cycle II, where each cycle was conducted four times the meeting was poured through the graph The results showed that, after the teacher used the Pop Up Book media in the learning process of introducing vocabulary objects, an increase in the ability of students to recognize the vocabulary of objects was obtained. This can be seen from the initial ability of students who are still low, students do not know the names of objects around them. After being given action in the first cycle and continued to the second cycle, there was a significant increase in the ability of students to recognize the names of objects around them. So it can be concluded that the Pop Up Book media can increase the vocabulary of objects for deaf students.
