Abstract
This study began by the problem of low ability of teacher in designing the course. It could be seen from the unproper course design used by Infomation and Communication Technology (TIK) teacher in the teaching and learning process. This study aimed to know the implementation of standard process of Information and Communication Technology (TIK) subject and factors influencing the process itself in SMP Kecamatan Gunung Toar Kabupaten Kuantan Singingi. The informants of this study were the headmaster, the vice headmaster of curriculum, the TIK teacher, 2 teachers of other subjects (English and Sport) and 2 students of SMPN 1 Gunung Toar, and the vice headmaster of curriculum, 2 TIK teachers and 2 students of SMPN 2 Gunung Toar. This study was qualitative study. The data were attained through observation, interview and documentation. Observation was conducted twice. First, it was done on October 26, 2012 to November 1, 2012 as preliminary research to investigate the current condition and description of the problem found in the field. Second, the observation was done in the process of research on April 2015 to get the accurate data about the implementation of standard process of TIK subject in SMP Kecamatan Gunung Toar Kabupaten Singingi. The result showed that (1) the course was not well-designed by the TIK teachers; (2) the process of teaching and learning was not based on the course design; (3) the teachers sometime evaluated the students through spoken and written test. In short, TIK teachers have not made well-designed planning for teaching process due to the lacks of their understanding about it. They also did not use it in the process of teaching and learning and the evaluation was only done in form of spoken and written test. So, based on the conclusion above, it was recommended that (1) the headmaster should allow and provide the teachers with the training about the course design; and (2) the TIK teachers have to enhance their knowledge to improve their competencies
