Abstract

Commitment of teachers in doing their task at SMK Negeri Solok Selatan are still low, it might caused by the conflict management and teachers’ emotional quotient. This study aims to reveal how far the contribution of conflict management and emotional quotient influence to the commitment of teachers to carry out their tasks at SMK Negeri Solok Selatan. Hypothesis proposed in this study were (1) the contribution of conflict management to the teachers’ commitment in carrying out the tasks, (2) the contribution of emotional quotient to the teachers’ commitment in doing the tasks, and (3) both conflict management and emotional quotient contribute to the teachers' commitment in carrying out domestic tasks at SMK Negeri Solok Selatan. The research used descriptive quantitative correlation. Populations of this study were 114 people. Sample was 51 people by using proportional stratified random sampling technique by considering strata, classes and certifications of their job period. The data was analyzed by correlation and regression techniques, Results of the analysis shows that: (1) conflict management significantly contributed to teachers' commitment of 7.3%, (2) emotional quotient significantly contribute to the commitment of teachers by 16%, and (3) both conflict management and emotional intelligence contribute to teachers' commitment of 18.5%. The analysis also showed that the principal conflict management were enough, good emotional quotient of teachers and the teachers' commitment was enough. The research finding above have implications that the teachers’ commitment can be increased through improvement of the conflict management principals and teachers' emotional quotient. However, there are still other factors that also give contribution to the commitment of teachers that has not been discussed in this research.
