Abstract
\This study was based on the fact that the learning process of social science subject is not as expected since the teachers did not apply heterogeneous grouping in the classroom activity and seldom checked the students’ comprehension after they have completed group discussion. This results in a lack of classroom engagement and low learning result. This research aims to describe the improvement of classroom engagement and student’s learning results in sosial science subject through two stay two stray cooperative learning model in sixth grade student’s of SDN 21 Cupak, solok District This study employs qualitative and quantitative approaches. The type of the study is a classroom action research which was done in two cycles, which included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research object consisted of a teacher and sixth-grade students of SDN 21 Cupak, Solok regency with the total number of 16 students. The research data was in the form of observation sheet and test answer sheet The result of lesson plan observation in cycle i was 85.7 % (Good) and it increased to 92,9 % (Very Good) in cycle II. The result of observation on the teacher aspect in cycle i was 76.56% (Good) which increased to 92.19% (Very Good) in cycle II. The result of observation on the students aspect in cycle i was 73.31% (Fair) which increased to 92.18% (Very Good) in cycle II. The students overall engagement improved from 53.90% in cycle I to 82,02% in cycle II. The students learning result also increased from 72.77% in cycle i to 81.99% in cycle II. Therefore, it is concluded that two stay two stray technique of cooperative learning model is able to improve the student engagement and learning result in social science lesson of sixt-grade students in SDN 21 Cipak, Solok Regency. It is suggested that is order to achieve a successful classroom action research, further studies have to contruct a well-prepared plan and reflect on the process to find its limits
