Abstract
The teacher is an important aspect in the success of improving the quality of education. Therefore, the optimal conditions for the performance of teachers is the key to the success of national education. Based on the pre-research at Junior High School in District Sibabangun Tapanuli Tengah described that the performance of teachers have not been optimal. Based on the researchers’ observation, teachers who have less optimal performance due to the low motivation and also the climate of an organizational communication which was not well. This research is aimed to test the hypothesis that: (1) the work motivation contributes to the teachers' performance, (2) organizational communication climate contributes to the performance of the teachers, and (3) the work motivation and organizational communication climate give contribution to the performance of the teachers. This research used correlational quantitative approach. The population of this research was all teachers of Yunior High School in the District of Sibabangun Tapanuli Tengah, namely 93 teachers. The technique Sampling used Disproportionate Stratified Random Sampling.The chosen samples were 49 teahers.The collected data was using questionnaire which the validity and reliability had been tested before. Data were analyzed by simple regression techniques and multiple regression. The descriptive analysis showed that teachers who had a poor performance in teaching in 50,05%. The teachers’ was poor in motivation in 56,91%, and the climate of organizational communication was also poor in 56,88% level of achievement. Those result looked like on pre research had been done by the researcher. Then, the data analysis used confidence level in 99% shows that: (1) work motivation contributed 52.4% of teachers’ performance, (2) organizational communication climate contributed 18,0% of teachers' performance, and (3) work motivation and organizational communication climate contributed 60,4% of teachers' performance. The results of this research revealed that to improve the teachers’ performance can be done through increasing motivation and organizational communication climate as well as possible.
