Abstract
The student’s activity and the students achievments in Grade VII.7 of SMPN 22 Pekanbaru are far from satisfaction. The methods and learning models used are yet to increased the achieviement by using Cooperative Learning Model of STAD Type. This Research was aimed to increase the activities and the students achieviement by using Cooperative Learning of STAD Type in learning IPS. This research was a class room action research which was carried out in two cycles. Every cycle consists of four stepes of research wich are planning, action, observation and reflection moreover, of taining the data was used two instruments of the research which are the observation sheet of the students activities filled up by the observer and the test of the students achieviement which was given in the end of the cycle. The data of of the activities was analized by finding out the percentage of the students involved in every meeting. The increase of the achieviement was from the number of students who achieved throroughness score and the average score gained at the end of the cycle. The result analysis of the data obtained in the firs cycle and the second cycle revealed that there activities and the student’s achieviement were increased from 55,43% in the firs cycle (cycle I) to 68,68% in the second cycle (cycle II), this showed that during the learning and teaching process, the students were actively involved enthusias in team work and helped each other in understanding the concept. The increase of the activities was impacting the students achieviement. The number of the students who successfully achieved thoroughness score were increased from 51,28% to 89,74%. The average score of the students achieviement was also increased from 65,23 in the firs cycle (cycle I) to 74,35 in the second cycle (Cycle II). However, this is because the cooperative learning model of STAD type is more focusing on the students as the subject of learning and giving the students more chance to construct there knowledge finally, in general it can be concluded that the use of cooperative learning model of STAD type is able significantly to increase the students activities and the learning achieviement on IPS by students of grade VII.7 of SMPN 22 Pekanbaru.
