Improving Operational Capability of Downward Sequence Reduction Through Block Dienes in Children with Dyscalculia.

This research is motivated by the problem of a grade IV dyscalculia child who does not yet understand the operation of calculating subtraction of a downward series using a borrowing technique. Therefore, children need to be given media to help children's learning. Media block dienes is a manipulative type and has a concrete form and attractive colors, so that it can make children feel happy and easy to understand learning. In addition, the use of the Dienes block media is simple and makes it easier for children to perform arithmetic operations to reduce the series downwards using a borrowing technique for dyscalculia children. The purpose of this study is to improve the arithmetic operation of subtraction downwards with the technique of borrowing class IV at SDN 17 Jawa Gadut. This study uses experimental research in the form of single subject research (SSR) with an A-B-A design. In the baseline condition (A1), 4 meetings were observed, the intervention condition (B) was 8 meetings, and the baseline condition (A2) was 4 meetings. Observation of the data was carried out using an action test technique using a data collection tool in the form of an action test instrument in the form of a checklist. Then data analysis with visual graph technique From the observations made, the baseline condition (A1) obtained results of 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%. In the intervention condition (B) the results obtained were 20%, 30%, 50%, 65%, 75%, 80%, 80%, 80%. Meanwhile, in the baseline condition (A2), the results obtained are 80%, 85%, 85%, 85%. Based on data analysis, the results showed that the ability of arithmetic operations to reduce series downwards with borrowing techniques increased after using Dienes block media in dyscalculia children.
