Abstract
Entrepreneurship competency had by a school principal is one of the successful keys in optimizing teaching learning process of the school he/she leads. Many assumption and analogies said that if a school is success and gains popularity in community, then people will see who the principal of the school is. On the contrary, if the school has bad reputation, people will also blame the principal. It is indeed undeniable. The implementation of entrepreneurship competency done by the principal of SMK Pembina Bangsa Bukittinggi toward the educators and educational staffs can be said successful enough. It can be seen from several factors: infrastructures, numbers of students, teaching-learning qualities, and human resources as a main part of teaching-learning activity such as the principal, teachers and administration staffs. In fact, the implementation of this competency faced several problems that can influence the teaching-learning process itself. It is an interesting subject to be observed. This case study used qualitative method. The determination of the informan is using purposive sampling technique where the researcher chose and decided the informan/correspondent based on knowledge, experience and skill which is appropriate with the objectives of this research. The numbers of the informan/correspondent is not specified. It depends on the needs, suitability and appropriateness of the data. The data is collected through observation, interview and documentation study. Then the data will be analyzed by using interactive model technique which consists of data reduction, presentation of the data, making a conclusion and verification of the conclusion. The effort to ensure the validity of the data in this case study is using triangulation technique. Some important findings in this case study are: 1) in one side, the principal of SMK Pembina Bangsa Bukittinggi can be said successful enough in implementing the entrepreneurship competency toward the educators and educational staffs, 2) on the other side, there are a lot of problems faced by the principal of SMK Pembina Bangsa Bukittinggi in implementing the competency toward the educators and educational staffs, and 3) some alternative solution are also found by the principal in implementing the competency toward the educators and educational staffs in the school he leads.
