Abstract

PT. Karbindo Abesyaprdhi is a coal company that owns IUP of Coal
Mining in Sungai Tambang Kab. Sijunjung Profinsi, West Sumatera. Coal mining
activities at Dungai mine by PT. Karbindo Abesyaprdhi conducted with open pit
system. The success parameter of a blasting activity is rock fragmentation of the
blasting result.
Evaluation of productivity of blasting and rock fragmentation result of
blasting can be done by observing blasting geometry. Based on the actual current
explosive geometry, we obtain a daily blasting volume of 2.559,302 Bcm and
obtained rock fragmentation> 100 cm by 20%. This indicates that the
fragmentation of the blasted rock <100 cm is not optimum yet. Subsequent reblast
geometry was undertaken to optimize the explosive fragmentation
distribution with the formula R. L Ash.
After the geometry calculation of the proposed explanation based on the
geometry of the proposed explosion according to R.L. Ash, then got the result of
daily blasting volume equal to 2.659,392 Bcm and rock fragmentation percentage
measuring> 100 cm that is 11,70%
Based on these data, the blast geometry design according to R.L Ash is
better to be applied because by using the blast geometry design according to R.L
Ash the productivity is more optimal and the fragmentation is more optimum
