Abstract

PT. Nusa Alam Lestari (NAL) is a private PT engaged in coal mining. PT. Nusa Alam
Lestari got its legality exploitation of the mayor Sawahlunto Number: 05:03. PERINDAGKOP.
YEAR 2006 on the granting of mining exploitation with an area of 100 hectares and is valid for 7
years. Also PT. NAL also got a Mining Authorization for Transportation and Sales in
accordance with the decision of the mayor Sawahlunto Numbers 07:36. PERINDAGKOP. On
March 27, 2006.
Coal mining in PT. Nusa Alam Lestari done by open pit system that uses the methods of
back filling, where the finished block will be covered with overburden mined and subsequently
used as a road for heavy equipment and dumptruck. To achieve the production target of
overburden on the PT. NAL, carried out by blasting process.
Each month a production target of overburden at PT. NAL is 200,000 BCM, BCM will
but only 159,545 in April, which successfully produced. Because the production is done by the
overburden blasting, high fly rock, vibration, and the resulting concussion, thus making the
company had to deal with the community around the mine site. This means that there is still the
maximum technical calculations to determine the geometry of blasting and powder factor to be
applied. It is therefore necessary to re-analysis of the geometry blasting and powder factor
required for overburden production targets are met.
From the analysis of observational data on IV by using the theory of Richard L. Ash and
the theory of Konya, Konya was the use of theory in the calculation of detonation geometry is
very efficient compared with the theory of Richard L. Ash. Geometry is a burden = 3 m, spacing
= 3.7 m, stemming = 3 m, subdrilling = 0.9 m, high level = 5.3 m, length = 3.2 m field, powder
factor = 0.21 kg / m 3, and fragmentation of rocks that will be generated = 62.20 cm.
