Abstract

This study designs and compares the effect of four stator slot geometries for high-speed spindle motors. The spindle motor was constructed using rounded semi-closed stator slot. The optimal stator geometry was determined using the Taguchi method, and equivalent circuit was used for analyzing and verifying the spindle motor performance. The finite element method was used in optimizing the design, and optimal design characteristics were compared. The optimal results are recommended for developing the spindle motor with high efficiency, torque, and low noise.
