Abstract
This research analyzed the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in
the process of differentiated learning in English subjects at SMA Negeri 1
Palembayan. This research focuses on the implementation of the Kurikulum
Merdeka in the differentiated learning process in English subjects at SMA Negeri
1 Palembayan. The design of this research is descriptive. The indicators for this
research are divided into three categories based on Tomlinson (2001), namely
readiness to learn, interest of learning and student learning profile. Data collection
was carried out using interviews. The participants in this research were English
teacher at SMA Negeri 1 Palembayan. The research results showed that the
implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka in the first year at SMA Negeri 1
Palembayan is an initial stage in accordance with the stages outlined by the
Ministry of Education and Culture. The process of differentiated learning has not
been implemented optimally due to several challenges faced by teachers in
implementing the differentiated learning.
