Abstract

Writing is one of important skill that should be learn by students in English learning at Senior High School. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of student ability in writing complication of narrative text. This research used quantitative research as a method. The population of this study was all students in the second grade students at SMA Pembangunan UNP of 2021/2022 academic year. The population consisted of 247 students from 8 classes, namely: Natural Science 1, Natural Science 2, Natural Science 3, Social Science 1, Social Science 2, Social Science 3, Social Science 4, and Language program. The sample of this research was 37 students who were selected by using simple random sampling. The instrument used was writing test. Students' writing was analyzed using an assessment rubric in accordance with this research. The results showed that there were 34 students (91,8%) in fair category, 1 student (2,7%) in good category, and the last, there were 2 students (5,5%) in poor category. It can be assumed that the students ability in writing complication of narrative text was in fair category with the mean score 1,90
