Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of students' motivation and the differences in motivation subcomponents between male and female students in the academic year 2021. In this study, the researcher used the questionnaire and the interview as the instrumentation in collecting data. The sample of this research were 96 students of English education and English non education study program at Universitas Negeri Padang. The findings of the data analysis showed that (1) students have high level of motivation which the mean score is 4.03; (2) females have a higher motivation than males in the five subcomponents of motivation; (3) the motivation of male and female students were different and they have their own reasons for it. Therefore, the motivation level on students is high and the motivation between male and female students were different. It is suggested (1) to teachers to use Quizizz application for assessment; (2) to students for trying Quizizz to polish their skills in learning; (3) to the next researchers for completing the research to be more accurate and to add the topic of research which is about the learning style based on Pintrich's theory.
