Abstract

This research is an analysis of the novel Sold (2006) by Patricia MacCormick. The purpose of this study is to reveal the agency issue shown by the female characters in the novel Sold (2006) by Patricia MacCormick. The issue in this study refers to the form of agency carried out by women in the midst of the strong influence of patriarchy. This analysis uses a text-based interpretation based on the point of view of feminism. The use of the concept is based on the interpretation of the text and in the context of the novel. This analysis also uses many fictional elements such as characters, plots, and settings to reveal the meaning contained in the novel. The results show that all assumptions about women outlined by patriarchy are not true.
