Abstract

Discovery learning is one of learning models suggested in Curriculum 2013. One way to implement discovery learning is by integrating this model into teaching materials such as module. The goalof this Research and Development (R&D) was to make a valid and practical discovery learning-based module in salt hydrolysis topic. 4-D instructional design model was taken for this research, but the stages were limited to define, design and develop stages. The research instrument used was questionnaire in the form of validity and practicality sheets. Data were analyzed with Kappa Cohen formula. Validity sheets were filled out by five lecturers and three chemistry teachers. Practicality sheets were filled out by three chemistry teachers and 33 eleventh grade students of SMAN 3 Padang. The average value of validity test was 0.77 showing a high degree of validity. The average values of practicality from teachers and students were 0.77 and 0.73 respectively showing a high degree of practicality. Therefore, it can be concluded that discovery learning-based module in salt hydrolysis topic was valid and practical and could be used in chemistry learning process.
