Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh latihan shadow dan footwork, dan untuk mengetahui perbedaan pengaruh latihan shadow dan footwork terhadap kemampuan groundstroke forehand pada mahasiswa kelas tenis lapangan dasar UNP. Jenis penelitian ini adalah eksperimen semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa kelas tenis lapangan dasar UNP yang berjumlah 20 orang. Teknik penarikan sampel yaitu purposive sampling, jadi sampel pada penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kelas tenis lapangan dasar UNP yang berjumlah 10 orang. Instrument penelitian menggunakan tes kemampuan groundstroke forehand. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji-t dengan taraf signifikan ɑ=0,05. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Terdapat pengaruh latihan shadow terhadap kemampuan groundstroke forehand pada mahasiswa kelas tenis lapangan dasar UNP, dengan t hitung 5,72 > t tabel 0,95 dengan peningkatan kemampuan groundstroke forehand 3 kali. (2) Terdapat pengaruh latihan footwork terhadap kemampuan groundstroke forehand pada mahasiswa kelas tenis lapangan dasar UNP, dengan t hitung 10,59 > t tabel 0,95 dengan peningkatan kemampuan groundstroke forehand. (3) Terdapat perbedaan pengaruh latihan antara latihan shadow dan latihan footwork terhadap kemampuan groundstroke forehand pada mahasiswa tenis lapangan UNP, dengan t hitung 3,83 > t tabel 0,95.
