Kumarin merupakan salah satu fotosensitizer organik yang memiliki fluoresensi tinggi, stabilitas cahaya yang baik, dan toksisitas rendah. Namun, keterbatasan stabilitas fotokimia kumarin di bawah paparan cahaya intens menghambat kinerjanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mensintesis dan mengarakterisasi senyawa 7-metil-2H-kromen-2-on terenkapsulasi Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-8 (ZIF-8). Sintesis dilakukan dengan metode onepot nanoprecipitation menggunakan bahan seng nitrat heksahidrat, 2- metilimidazol, dan 7-metil kumarin dalam pelarut metanol. Produk hasil sintesis dikarakterisasi menggunakan spektroskopi FTIR dan spektroskopi UV-Vis DRS. Hasil FTIR menunjukkan adanya gugus C=O karbonil dan C–O ester khas kumarin serta gugus Zn–N yang menandakan pembentukan struktur ZIF-8.
