Modifikasi mengunakan surfaktan kationik Ctyltrimethylammonium Brimode (CTAB) dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan biosorben dalam menyerap zat warna anionik seperti Direct Blue 86. Biosorben dikarakterisasi menggunakan FTIR, dan efisiensi penyerapan zat warna dianalisis menggunakan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Penyerapan dilakukan terhadap variasi pH, konsentrasi, ukuran partikel, waktu kontak, dan kecepatan pengadukan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum biosorpsi Direct Blue 86 terjadi pada pH 6, konsentrasi Direct Blue 86 200 ppm, ukuran partikel 75 Um, waktu kontak 90 menit, dan kecepatan pengadukan 250 rpm.
