Sehingga menyebabkan Indonesia memiliki potensi yang cukup besar di bidang perikanan. Sumatera Barat merupakan salah satu provinsi di Indonesia yang juga memiliki potensi yang cukup besar di bidang perikanan. Dimana potensinya besar jumlah serta tingkat konsumsi banyak, namun tingkat produksinya sedikit. Berdasarkan masalah yang ada, maka rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana peramalan jumlah produksi ikan di Sumatera Barat menggunakan Metode Pemulusan Eksponensial Tripel Tipe Brown untuk 5 tahun mendatang pada tahun 2012-2016. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data sekunder. Sumber data yang diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistika(BPS) Sumatera Barat. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah Metode Pemulusan Ekponensial Tripel Tipe Brown. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, Secara teori nilai α yang diperoleh adalah 0,299 dilihat dari hasil MSE terkecil, maka didapat 1,826E+09 pada α = 0,299. Model Pemulusan Tripel Tipe Brown jumlah produksi ikan laut di Sumatera Barat = + + = 166113,53 + 6231,93m − 75,40m2. Hasil ramalan terhadap data jumlah produksi ikan laut di Sumatera Barat untuk tahun 2012-2016 terjadi peningkatan produksi seiring dengan pertambahan waktu.
