Dalam penggunaan elemen mesin bisa berfungsi sebagai elemen pengikat, elemen pemindah atau transmisi, elemen penyangga, elemen pelumas, elemen pelindung, dan sebagainya. Buku ini terdiri dari delapan bab. Pada Bab 1 diuraikan tentang cakupan materi dari buku Elemen Mesin ini. Kemudian pada Bab 2, terdapat uraian mengenai Sambungan Kelingan serta prosedur desainnya. Sedangkan pada Bab 3 dibahas tentang sambungan las beserta jenis-jenisnya. Memasuki Bab 4 dibahas seputar penyolderan atau patri. Adapun Bab 5 diuraikan kajian tentang sambungan ulir, sedangkan pada Bab 6 diuraikan tentang alat transmisi daya. Selain itu pada bab 7 dijelaskan tentang perancangan pegas beserta jenis-jenisnya.
