Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa adalah dengan menerapkan model Contextual Teaching and Learning. Rumusan masalah pada penelitian ini adalah “Apakah kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) lebih baik dibandingkan dengan menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional di kelas VII SMP Negeri 13 Padang tahun pelajaran 2014/2015 ?”. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 13 Padang Tahun Pelajaran 2014/2015. Rancangan penelitian adalah Randomized Control Group Design. Setelah melakukan langkah-langkah pengambilan sampel, maka terpilih kelas VII 3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII 1 sebagai kelas kontrol. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk melihat hasil kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Instrumen tes yang digunakan adalah berupa tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data yang telah dilakukan maka diperoleh P-value sebesar 0,002 pada taraf nyata 0,05. Kriteria pengujiannya adalah P-value < , maka tolak .
