Comparing the Use of Logical Fallacies by the Representatives of Government Officials and Students in the Television Debates.

Abstract
The goal of this study was to identify the different kinds of logical fallacies used in television debates by representatives of the government and students from the
2019 Indonesian Protests and Riots. The type of this research is descriptive research. The source of the data is the transcripts of debates from Mata Najwa and Kompas TV
during the 2019 protests and riots in Indonesia. The data were statements that contained logical fallacies. In this study, Damer's fallacy classification theory was applied. According to the findings, there are sixty different types of fallacies, although only twenty seven of them were discovered. There were twenty types of fallacies found in the government officials’ arguments with seventy nine occurrences and eighteen types of fallacies produced by the students with sixty eight occurrences. Both governments and students produced the same most dominant types of fallacies
which is poisoning the well with the proportion 20.25% by the government and 27.98% by the students.
