Translation Techniques of Directive and Assertive Act in
Frozen II ( 2019) Movie Subtitle.

Abstract
This research aims to analyzed the Translation Techniques of Directive and Assertive
Act found in Frozen II (2019) Movie Subtitle. This research used qualitative method.
For analyzing the data, the writer used Yule (1996) theory for the types directive and
assertive speech act and Molina and Albir (2002) theory for translation techniques
categories. Based on data analysis, it was found 102 utterances categorized as
directive and assertive speech act utterance in the Frozen II movie subtitle. From the
result of the data, there were nine types of translation techniques used by translator to
translated directive and assertive speech act utterance in this movie. There were
establish equivalent 32 data, linguistic compression 14 data, discursive creation 7
data, reduction 18 data, linguistic amplification 1 data, literal translation 18 data,
amplification 2 data, calque 7 data and borrowing 1 data. So, establish equivalent is
the most dominant types of translation techniques in directive and assertive speech
act utterances.
