Abstract

The problem in this study is about the differences in lung vital capacity and VO2 Max of junior high school students in the highlands and lowlands in Agam Regency and Padang City and is the background for the researchers. This study aims to determine the difference between vital lung capacity and VO2 Max capacity of highland and lowland junior high school children in Agam Regency and Padang City. This research is a non-experimental quantitative study with a different type of test or comparative test which will compare the results of data from two different subjects. The population in this study amounted to 1356 male students. Sampling using purposive sampling technique with a population of 100 students. This study uses two variables, the independent variable is the highland region and the lowland region. While the dependent variable is the capacity of VO2 Max and vital lung capacity. Based on the calculation results, the tcount value is 0.509 < ttable 1.664 for 5% of dk = 48, meaning that there is a difference in VO2MaKS between junior high school students living in highland areas and students living in lowland areas in Padang City and Agam Regency in 2021/202
