Abstract

Poor personal hygiene and environment, associated with the transmission of several infectious diseases, namely diarrhea, cholera, typhoid fever, and paratyphoid fever, dysentery, hookworm disease, ascariasis, hepatitis A and E, skin diseases, trachoma, schistosomiasis, cryptosporidiosis, malnutrition, and diseases associated with malnutrition. This research method uses descriptive techniques, which describes how the quality of the environment affects public health, especially the bad impact of slum environmental sanitation on the growth of children under five. The correlation between the incidence of stunting and poor sanitation management in the community is mediated by the increasing incidence of infection in children under five and diseases associated with malnutrition. Children who have infectious diseases can cause them not to feel hungry and not want to eat. This disease also consumes a number of protein and calories that should be used for growth. Children who have infectious diseases will decrease the body's ability to absorb substances that the body needs for repairing damaged tissue, forming new cells and insufficient energy sources. The poor sanitation of waste in the community is caused by a lack of positive public attitudes towards waste management. This has an impact on the quality of their own health. Efforts to overcome these problems have been carried out by carrying out proper management of sanitation in the community environment
