Abstract
Amylase include the enzyme which is widely used in industry. This enzyme can be produced by thermophilic bacteria and have thermostable characteristic. Thermophilic bacteria can be found in various places, one of them is in hot spring. Sapan Sungai Aro is one example of hot spring has high temperature where located in South Solok, West Sumatra. This study aimed to screening and to know the amylase enzyme activity of the thermophilic bacteria isolate in hot springs Sapan Sungai Aro, South Solok. The study have on November to December 2014 in Microbiology Laboratory, Biology Department, FMIPA UNP. This research classified into descriptive research which observe colony morphology (macroscopic characteristic).. The result showed that 16 thermophilic bacteria isolate could produce amylase enzyme in incubation temperature 600C. SSAS 8 is the isolate which show the higest amylase activity with transparant zone diameter reached 30,37 mm. SSAS 6 is the isolate show the lowest amylase activity with transparant zone diameter 9,39 mm. Hot spring Sapan Sungai Aro deliver 16 thermophilic bacteria isolate which is amylase producer.
