Abstract

The 2013 curriculum requires students to have thinking skills: Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). To achieve this, teachers must use strategies to train students to think in higher order. One method to teach students' higher-order thinking skills is to apply HOTS questions in the learning evaluation. Based on the National Examination (NE) results of students in 2019 in Solok District, it was found that the average score of students still had not reached the minimum FSAsing score of 55.0. This proves that students can still not work on exam questions that are equivalent to the national exam. This study aims to identify whether the physics questions given at school are HOTS oriented or not, both in conditions before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, a study was conducted on the analysis of the HOTS presentation on senior high school physics questions before and during the COVID-19 pandemic in Solok District. This research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The data population in this study is the entire Mid-Semester Assessment (MSA) and Final Semester Assessment (FSA) used in Solok District. The sample in this study was 92 MSA, and FSA questions from 28 questions from the MGMP and 64 questions from eight schools randomly selected based on the quality level of schools in Solok District. The questions were taken from 2017 to 2020. Sampling for schools was carried out using a saturated sample technique for questions before the pandemic and Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling for questions tested during the pandemic. The data of this research were taken using the analytical instrument of the question presented and data collection techniques through the study of documentation.Based on the analysis that has been carried out, found that the percentage of HOTS availability on questions before and during the pandemic based on the revised bloom taxonomy was 7.61% and 4.36%, respectively. As for the skills of HOTS questions before and during the pandemic, namely 12.41% and 5.74% in the non-facilitating category. Based on these data, it can conclude that the percentage of availability and skills of HOTS in Physics at the Senior High School in Solok District during the pandemic is lower than the learning conditions before the pandemic
