Abstract

Science Process Skills (SPS) are skills that facilitate learners discover facts, determine concepts and apply theories in everyday life. In fact in the SPS implementation class was still low. In addition to the low implementation of SPS, the textbooks used by high schools in West Sumatra have not yet known the value of SPS. The solution to this problem was knowing which books have high SPS that will be used in the teaching and learning process.This study aims to determine the value of SPS in Physics textbooks used by high schools in West Sumatera. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The research population was all physics textbooks for class X semester 2 used in West Sumatera. The research sample wasthe four most books used in West Sumatra High School. The research instrument used has a high validity value. This research instrument uses 10 components which are broken down into 37 indicators. The results obtained that the book used in the classroom as a source of learning for students has 1 sample of books whose SPSsscores are in the Good category. The other three sample books have KPS values in the Fair category. Physics textbooks that have the highest SPS values to books with low KPS grades in sequence according to the book coding are PT3, PT4, PT2 and PT1 books.
