Abstract

This study was conducted to determine student perceptions of online speaking learning for formal interaction subjects at the English Department of Padang State University. Quantitative descriptive research is used in this study. Participants who took part in this activity were 50 students who had learned speaking for formal interaction subjects in online learning. The research instrument is a questionnaire adapted from Ramadhani (2020). The result of the research found that students' perception of online learning of speaking for formal interaction subject at English Department Universitas Negeri Padang was good quality. Form 5 indicators, learning process, got the lowest perception with a score of 3.1, but the categories of this score are moderate. It means that there are no significant changes from traditional learning in the learning process of online learning. In other words, the students can follow all of the activities in online learning.
