Abstract

This research aimed to find out the types of questioning strategies used by the teachers during teaching and learning process. The sample was taken by using random sampling. The sample of this research was two English teachers in senior high school at TigoNagariPasaman. The data were taken from observation and video recording. The data is to know about questioning strategies used by the teacher during teaching and learning in the classroom. Tha data was analyzed based on the theory proposed by Wangru (2016) and Chen (2016. Based on the findings, the dominant questioning strategies used by the teachers was prompting strategy, it is found 11 (50%) prompting strategy.
