Abstract

Melon is a plant belonging horticultural crops (short-lived), grew up lying on the ground and climb on trees or bamboo lanjaran prepared for cultivation by means of tendrils pembelit. Although melon plants belong to one type of fruit that relatively recently cultivated in Indonesia, but was immediately popular among the general public as well as the much-loved because it can be consumed in different types of dishes. To increase the productivity of fruit crops, and to support environmentally friendly agricultural development program, administered biological agents Arbuskula mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of different AMF species on growth and fruit production of melon (Cucumis melo L). The study was conducted from December 2010 until March 2011 at the Laboratory of Protection and the Garden Experiments Tropical Fruit Crops Research Institute (ITFRI) Aripan, Solok. This research used Randomized Design Group (RAK) with six treatments and four replications. The treatments used were glomus fasciculatum, glomus agregatum, Acaulospora tuberculata, glomus intraradices, Bioriza 02 G and without inoculation (as control). The results showed that all treatments are able to colonize roots and stimulate plant growth. Bioriza 02 G is a mycorrhizal fungal inoculum formulation of good in spurring growth and production of melons.
