Abstract

Mathematical0communication ability is0an aspects0that0determines0studentslearning in achieving0the0goals0of mathematical education. Unfortunately, we found that the studentsmathematical communication ability at VII grade SMPN5 Padang Panjangseems still0low. The method0that0can0be used forstudents0mathematical0communication0ability improvement is by applying Realistic Mathematic0Education (RME)0approach.This study is purpose to know that whether RME approach or scientific approach is better to increase the students mathematical communication ability and describe0the development0of0students0mathematical0communication0ability0who0learned0by0using RME approach in0VII0grade of SMPN 5 Padang Panjang. This0study was0a combination0of0descriptive study with static group0design andquasi-experimental.Based0on the data0analysisresults, we can say that students mathematical0communication ability0who learned by0using RME approach0is better0than those0who learned0by using0scientific0approach
