Abstract

This research was conducted in the Department of Automotive Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University. The aim of this research is to reveal : (1) differences in learning outcomes of students taught with cooperative learning method of STAD with the results of study is taught by lecture method in engineering courses in air conditioning, (2) differences in learning outcomes students with high learning motivation with student learning outcomes that have a low motivation to study is taught with cooperative learning method STAD and lecture methods in engineering courses in air conditioning, (3) the interaction between teaching methods and learning motivation in influencing student learning outcomes for courses air conditioning. This research uses quasi-experimental approach to the design of treatment by 2 x 2 factorial. This study population is automotive engineering students who take courses in air conditioning technology courses in six mount from January to June 2012 as many as five classes. The samples taken by selecting the two classes have an average initial value equal or close to equal. The next two classes were randomly selected election to determine the grade control and experimental classes. Number of respondents experimental class of 20 students and a control class of 20 students. Research data were analyzed with analysis of variance (ANAVA). Research results found that (1) the average student learning outcomes that are taught by using cooperative methods STAD higher than students taught using lecture methods in engineering courses in air conditioning, (2) the average student learning outcomes that have motivated higher learning higher than students who have high motivation to study for courses on air conditioning techniques; (3) does not have the interaction between teaching methods and student motivation in influencing student learning outcomes in engineering courses in air conditioning in the Department of Automotive Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University.
