Abstract

The community development of the saka sugar processing group can be done through a product diversification program, because all this time the production is still focused on one type of product, namely brown sugar. Bagasse as the rest of the production process has not been used optimally but can be processed into new products in the form of briquettes as solid fuels. This is due to the lack of knowledge and ownership of technology among craftsmen. In connection with introducing briquettes as solid fuels made from bagasse, it is very possible to strengthen technology transfer for saka sugar craftsmen in Nagari Lawang. Bagasse briquettes with a prototype physical model that has good test performance characteristics. This result can serve as a development channel for thinking of new products in the framework of managing bagasse waste. Then this product was introduced to craftsmen as a medium of teaching, as well as Jhon Dewey's implementation & education concept in the framework of technology transfer for the pioneering efforts of product diversification in the production process of farmer groups in Nagari Lawang. The real impact of the craftsmen community after the implementation of activities is the change of mindset in problem solving, real work as the development of selfexperience, and creativity improvement which leads to the general welfare of the community
