Abstract

This research was designed to study the role of friend quantity, friendship quality and self esteem to the loneliness at adolescence. The hypotheses proposed in this research was friend quantity, friendship quality, and self esteem plays role in affecting loneliness at adolescence. The research participants were 114 adolescence, 12 to 18 years old, consisting of 77 girls and 37 boys. The data collection was done by using loneliness scale, friendship scale and self esteem scale. This study employs quantitative approach and regression analysis technique. The result shows that the quantity of friends, quality of friendship, and self esteem significantly plays role in affecting the level of loneliness at adolescence (F= 12.48, R² = 0. 254, p < 0.01). That means that the higher of the friend quantity, friendship quality and self esteem, the lower the level of loneliness at adolescence
