Abstract

The electric power system is a complex system which consists of generation, transmission lines, and distribution system. The analysis of load flow in transmission lines and distribution system is importance to improve the reliability of the power system. However, the students often find it difficult and take a long time to finish the calculation of the load flow analysis manually. The advance development of software technology can be used to help the student to understand the load flow analysis with quick method. Power Word as one of the freeware developed to analyze the power system can be used to calculate the load flow analysis quickly. The real power system grid can be simulated through visual models and the flow of the load on the system can be demonstrated to the student. By creating power systems models and perform load flow analysis using this freeware, the student will be able to see and understand the load flow concept and calculation in a short time. Therefore using Power Word as a tool in learning process will improve the comprehension of the student in load flow analysis.
