Abstract

Natural disaster are natural events caused by natural processes, whether occuring by nature itself or initiated by human action, which raises the risk and danger to human life, both property and human life. For example, frequend landslides during heavy rainfall. This research purposed to determine land cover weathering, slope, rainfall intensity, soil texture, and spatial distribution of landslide prone areas along land transportation of Padang AroPadang Air Dingin District of Solok Selatan. This research is a descriptive study with a survey method. Sample taken in this research were taken from the point of landslides that have occurred and are likely landslide point, taken 3 to point 3 avalanche and landslide likely. Data were analyzed using the summation dignity avalanche danger level in the form of tables dignity of land cover, weathering, slope, rainfall intensity, and soil texture in land transportation Padang Aro-Padang Air Dingin District of Solok Selatan. Result of the research found: (1) land cover varies ufrom the scrub and open land.(2) weathering of rocks that are in the category of medium and weathered strong. (3) slope encountered with a slope exceeding 40% with a very step category. (4) period ufrom 2008-2012 with an average of 216mm/month in very high category. 5) varying soil texture is loam, sandy loam , clay, and sandy clay. With moderate avalanche danger level at the sample point 1 chance landslides 1 times in 5 years,including in zone II and high avalanche danger level for samples 2-6 are likely avalanche 2 times in 5 years are included in zone III avalanche danger level.
